Just curious as to what style or type of anchor everyone uses on the river? I have a Fluke Type and the River Type.

I make my own out of a long eye bolt, about 18 inches and lead. Weighs about 28 pounds. works well unless I am on hard dirt bottom in hard current.

Bob, I dont know where you fish or nothing but if your getting dirt on your anchor instead of mud you have to be fishing in the wrong spots.:smile2:

Here is a blury pic of my homemade anchor. I got the Idea from Russ, let me tell you this is the best anchor design ever made. It will hold in dirt:smile2:,mud,rocks,sand and barge cables. The good thing about it if you do get it hung up all you have to do is bump the motor in reverse and the rebar will straighten out and the whole thing will come right up.

25# River anchor on soft bottoms.

25# Rictor anchor on rocky bottoms.

Drift sock or bucket where needed.

Funny you should say that I saw a guy try to anchor right beside us today just upstream of the chain of rocks bridge with a 12 lb navy anchor and he finally gave up.:smile2: We were using a 28# homemade rebar and lead anchor and we were locked in.:wink:

Man that picture is about as clear as "Dirt" on the river bottom.:smile2: Could you try again? I may try to make one. Please tell me it weighs less than skipeyes 28# model, Those heavy arse anchors tend to make you sit on a hole longer than you should cause you dread "pulling anchor" again.

Dan Skip has one of those and they work great except at the dam where ya dont have room to motor upstream.

Been using Digger Anchors for years. Never lost one. Best on the market IMO.
