what time to start fishing heavly for flathead catfish in illinois

    its april now is this prime time to start or is it to early if so let me know yalls opinains

    I live in La. and the Flatheads are in full swing right now so get Out there now and don't stop till you fill up your freezer.

    mite be a tad early in the northern part of IL. down south they should be crackin.

    I'm in central Il. On the indiana border. The water is just barely warming up enough to catch small channels. It's not quite ready for the flathead. I'd say another month for them. the channels should be viting good in the next week or so. If we keep getting warm weather. I found a few mushrooms yesterday. the first ones out I bet. Mushroom season has been pushed back as well as fishing due to the cold that wont go away. Mushrooms are usually in full swing or about over with this time of the year usually. Should be a good season for all the above this year. I hope!
