I want to make sure that I have plenty of bait in the freezer this year for blue cat fishing. I was wondering when do the shad head for deep water? I want to make sure I get plenty before hand.

Around here they start heading deeper when the water gets under 72. They can still be caught in 5 to 10 ft of water then. Once the water is 63 and lower look really deep, Ive gotten shad as deep as 34 ft of water. Deep shad are hard to find, but when you do they are balled up real tight and you can get plenty in one throw.
