Maybe.I would bet on the lower southern staes though do to the fact of more warmer weather letting the fish grow more time in the year.

Thats true too.just wondering how big is the missouri river wide and deep wise.We have the Brazos here but its a sholow river for the most part and the Trinity is not very wide but it holds some big ones.

I dont really know what the record is but in 1976 I caught a 102.30 yellow cat inthe Brazos river ,while fishing the old Frydek tourny. It was caught wieghed and released and still lost the tourny.

WOW, I didn't realize Kansas had that big a fish over there. I haven't fished Kansas in years.

I did see a young 14 young lady over in Spain caught a 9' cat the other day. 193 pounds! Awesome catch. Fish was released after pictures

In 2004, a blue catfish was pulled from the lake weighing in at 121.5 pounds (55.1 kg), temporarily setting a world weight record for rod and reel caught catfish. The fish was moved to a freshwater aquarium in Athens, Texas. More commonly, catfish in Lake Texoma weigh from 5 up to about 70 pounds (2 to 30 kg).

Looks like Texhoma has some pretty good size fish in it according to this, I got this info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Texoma#Fishing

I have some friends down in texas and I think we're all gonna meet up at texhoma pretty soon... We usually fish together down on the gulf for sharks, but, we also like those cats

i dont know guys i think that there are def more than one record cat in the ohio river which is close to me and it wouldn't shock me to see it caught outta there .... most people that fish it just don't use the gear needed for a record fish making it impossible to land them...

What would be the gear needed?

Myself, I use a breakaway HDX and ABU 7000, think that outta be enough?
