a well known bowhunting magazine wrote an artical about (the 5 different stages in bowhunting) i was thinking ,could there be different stages in catfishing? lets think about this for a second

stage 1. shooter stage beginner stage

stage 2. limiting out stage lets kill as many as posible

stage 3. trophy stage doesnt matter so much how many but how
    big (trophy size animals)

stage 4. method stage hunting is one of the most important thing in
his life satisfaction comes from the method
in wich a hunter takes his or her quary
taking game is important but secound to
how he or she takes it

stage 5. sportman stage as a hunter ages he mellows out doesnt
realy care. saticfaction can now be found
    in the hole hunting experience

do you think fishermen could be clasified in stages? and if you do what stage would you be i myself think im somewhere between trophy and method

Been fishing for 30 plus years and I am still stage 1, I hope I never loose that feeling of anticipation. although I do find joy in every aspect of fishing, catching are not.

    Interesting Question...
Stages 1,2,3 and 5 absolutly covers fishing imho...

Personally, I flip between 2 and 3.. If im channel fishing, I want lots of action and lots of numbers.. I've spent most this year in 3. I'll sacrifice the action and fish big live baits looking to land big flatheads... Was just talking about this last trip out with some fishing buddies. We had shad and live gills. Two of us had two rods with live gills. One of my buddies just wanted to catch fish, so he threw out stink bait and shad fillets... He played around the channels, I didnt get a run all nite, other buddy caught nice healthy 10-12Lb flathead.. We all had a good time....
The Fall feeding Frenzy is just about to start, so now is prime time Flathead fishing in these parts until late October.. Then it'll be time to move up into the warm water discharges where they stack up :smile2:
