I had a tough time even finding any around home here and ddn't want to wait on a mail order before trying them. I was able to find some 6/0 and 8/0 Gamakatso (SP?). The 6/0's look just a might smallesh for big fish to me. What say you guys? Thanks

I've got the full range of sizes, but I've been using at least the 7/0-8/0 sizes lately.

In Gamakatsu I use the 8/0 mostly. I can't find anything bigger in that brand so I use 10/0 in the Owner brand for flats in the ohio river.

I use 5/0 - 8/0, with 6/0 probably being the one I use the most for channels.

This weekend I will be at Santee-Cooper, so the 8/0 will be OUT OF THE BOX!!!

Depends on what size fish youre targeting. The ones I fish for are 30 pounds and up. I usually use 6/0 to 10/0 and have caught 50 pounders on 6/0 and 2 pounders on 10/0. My favorite is 8/0 Gamakatsu octopus circle hooks that I snell myself. I use big chunks of gizzard shad and they have a wide enough gap to accomodate the size bait I use.

I usually match the hook size with the bait. Bigger bait = bigger hooks. Also depends on the species too.

    One note.

The smaller Gamakatsu hooks will easily land a big fish without worry about breaking or bending. The only concern with a smaller hook is being able to use a large enough piece of bait without interfering with the hook point.

Same Here, I Can Buy 7/0's @ Any Wally World, So I've Been Using Those. I've Caught Plenty Of Eater Size Fish On 'Em & They Are Close Enough To A 8/0 For The Big'uns.
