    Merry Christmas, all!
My father in law gave me a vintage 6000 for Christmas. It was his dad's and Papa don't fish. Any suggestions on a rod to get to go with this?
I'll be using it more in bank fishing situations than in a boat!

    thankyew, thankyew!

Quantum Bigcat m/h action would be a good choice.

If you wanted to go a little less as far as weight/action, Cabelas still have their King Kat Pro Rods for $19.99. I have 3 of them, Abu 6000's on them all. Let me know if youd like a pic & I'll post one on here.

Thanks for the replies, all. H20 Mellon, I saw those Cabela's rods on the web too for $19.99. I'm going to be going to the Cabela's outside of Wheeling in a couple of days and I'll look one over.

I'll be fishing that same set-up(8' King Kat Pro, with Abu 6000) this year. Looks like the fishies got something more to worry about!

I keep my 6500's and 6000's on ugly stick 6'6 MH rods. Seems about perfect. I like to use the quantum big cats on abu 7000's.

Too bad they dont have the catfish series ugly sticks in different lenghts and line caps. I really like these rods. their about perfect for the 6000. I also got a whupping stick thinking it would be good for a bigger reel i got but it didnt have the backbone also a great rod for the 6000. the 8'er is supposed to be rated to 50# and the 9'er is rated at30# but I bent the 8'and9' rods in the store and couldnt tell a differnce so i got the 9. I wanted another two pc rod to put in the car so i got a 9' king kat feals the same to me as the whupping stick havent got to try it out yet but i put a 6500 on it.

I have my two new 6000's mounted on 7' MH Silstars Catfish Master Rods. They give me the tools to fish the pools.

My two 6000's are on 8' MH American Premier rods. For budget minded people, those are great rods.

I have both of my Abu 6000's on 6 1/2 foot ugly stiks. I like these, am now wanting to get an 8' Tiger M/L two piece rod to put my 6500c4 on. They should all make good channel cat rods for me. Am wanting a really good rod for my 7000c3 with 27lb Mason Braid.

I would reccomend the Uglystick Catfish series. I'd go 7' with MH action.
