what line to use

    hey fellas in march i am headin down to montauk (spell check) and here is my question
    would it be better to spool the whole reel with 2-4lb fluorocarbon Or spool 3/4 reel with 6lb mono then fill the rest with 2-4lb fluorocarbon or would u jut use plain mono with no fluoro leader

    Hey not sure where your headed by Seaguar fluorocarbon has about the smallest diameter I have found and it is really tough.

    I use 4-6 lb line with a 2 lb leader from 2-6 ft long.

    Dusty, spool your reel with any 4 or 6 lb mono, put a surgeon's knot (loop) on the end and tie on a tippet of about 3' Seagaur flouracarbon; I prefer 3.7 lb. Not cheap, about $14-15 a spool. And spend the money on Seagaur; I've used it for years and it's by far the best, in small diameter and strength.

    Filling the entire spool with flouracarbon is expensive and uneccessary.

    Mono casts a lot better also. I like Trilene XL on the reel and Seagaur for the leader. I pretty much stick with 4 lb. for both.
