Sry for another "what is this fish" question but if its not a catfish, sunfish, bluegill, or rock bass im pretty clueless. Anyway I was fishin my normal spot on for sunfish for catfish bait when this got on my line. At first I thought is was some kind of creek chub type thing or large minnow, but when i was going to unhook it and use it for cutbait i noticed it had teeth so i let it go.

Ya it could be a sauger or walleye or even it could be a minnow.

The fish is a sauger, cousin to a walleye.

Looks like a sauger. I've caught several around here on minnows and cutbait.

definately a sauger. Not a walleye or saugeye, coloration is wrong. They make some good eating when they get bigger! Glad you released it to grow!

It is kind of hard to tell from the picture. Does it have two fins on the top? If so if the fin closest to its mouth is a half circle it is most likely a sauger.

Guys, its actually a walleye. the color of a sauger is much more dark and they have a more slender body. i probaly catch more walleye up here in the moussouri river system than cats.
