Bait casters and conventionals are the only type I use for catfishing.

I love pflueger reels and I use the catstick rod.

I have a pflueger PFL 66 with bait clicker and a 8 foot medium/heavy catstick rod and I use it in the ocean for blues and they can really ruin your stuff

I use baitcasters (Tidewaters) on a 7 foot or 7.5 foot rod (Berkley big game).

for bait I use a small spinning R/R combo

I rarely catfish from a boat,so I use 8-10 foot rods & Abu Garcia baitcasters from the bank.
Abu Garcia Cardinals are the spinning reels I use to catch my bait.

Spinning rods and reels are my choice . I have used them all my life . I have one med/hvy baitcasting combo I use some but I lack in backlash control . I spend my time bird nesting on my bait caster .

I use Abu Garcia 6000 and 7000 baitcasters. I used to use conventional reels, but baitcasters are just so much easier to reel.

well i personally like to use both baitcasters and spinning reels baitcasters for my heavier line and bigger baits and the spinning reels for smaller baits or where i need a very long cast
