I mostly use a Carolina Rig. But I've found most spots on the Ohio River are pretty stubborn when it comes to snags. I've considered trying a different kind of rig where my weight hangs standalone so I'm able to break it off easily.

Using big no-roll sinkers, that's usually what's snagging ya up.

An inexpensive one because you will lose a lot. I would use cheap weights if you can. Weights from old torn cast nets would be good. Use thick line if possible. Most places you can access from the bank are not bad for fishing but if you don't catch anything you will likely lose your rig.

I say a carolina rig, so that the bait can swim freely if it's live, and it can float up off the bottom if you're using cut bait.

Use the Carolina rig and egg sinkers. They are slightly less prone to snags. Good luck to you!
