Over the years I've caught lots Long Nose Gar, but this is a first for me. In the last two days, I've caught 3 of these, and they seem to be a lot more aggressive than the long nose. Are they Alligator Gar or what?

That looks like it Dale. One of them was about 30 inches and had spots on its sides, but the two smaller ones looked identical to the one in your picture. Their nose looks flat, and wide like an Alligator from the top.
I know they sure played hell with my bait all night. Long nose Gar usually just pick at it, but these things were swallowing 3 & 4 inch goldfish. Needless to say, they didn't survive the retrieval of my hooks.
Believe it or not, a local pet store sells 6 inch Alligator Gar for 25 bucks apiece. When they get to big for their aquarium I can just imagine where they'll go.:sad2:

IMO it is a short nose also. A gator gars mouth is a lot wider I believe.
