I can't tell for sure from the pics, but that appears to be a black bullhead. A yellow bullhead has a rounded tail, and the brown bullhead is usually slightly mottled, and the head may appear to be too large for the body.

the eyes are wrong for a bullhead. looking at the head shape, lighter belly and anal fin, i'd say it's a beat up channel cat.

Yeah this one is kinda baffling to me..The first pic it looks like a bullhead but the head shot looks exactly like a channel.I have to ask about the tail also ,was it deeply forked or rounded??

He said something about red fins. I wonder if that was one that had been caught and left out in the sun? I've had dead channels get multi color like that. Shad get red noses?

Who knows? One thing for sure, I wouldn't cook it.....

Looking at the pictures in Fishbase, it might be either a black or yellow bullhead. (If you go to Fishbase to look for yourself, be sure to scoll down and click on 'pictures'.)
