hey all, I was just wondering what type of coonhound you thought was the best. i have hunted for over 2 years and hunted with some good hounds. but in my personall opinion i think walkers are the best, just because i think they have more heart.

Definitely walkers. Specifically Dohoney's Boone and Sackett Jr. bred.

I grew up on a farm and Dad, my brothers, and I have owned about every breed. I got back into hunting coon last year and got my kids 2 black/tan's.

Here's a picture of my 7 year old boy with our 11 month old male. He was 6 months old in the photo. The other dog we have is a female and is 6 months old.

    Scott.

Walker in my opinion!! Have had walkers and black and tans.. both good breeds. I have seen alot of plotts and currs that were very ILL towards other dogs. but thats just my opinion.

i will agree that there are alot of great breeds out there, but i will say that i have yet to take a walker hunting and not hear a good race. they just hunt better in my opinion.

back in the 60s i had a kennel full of vaugn bread blutickc.5 of these were nite champions and 2 were grand nite champions.i let them get old and some died.when my old rattler dog left me i lost interest in hunting.i started back coon hunting in the early 80s when my son got old enough to want to go.ive tried them all and ended up with black and tans.4 years ago i got a kemmer cur to squriel hunt with.i started road hunting with her and found out if she treed to high on the moutain i could call her off the tree and go on.boys she does the same at nite and when i get ready to go to the truck or home i just say comon girl lets go home.ive got 3 black and tans that are for sale.for me in my golden years curs and fiest are the way to go.they hunt for me and not me hunting for them.

Walkers hands down all we ever had and the only thing we'll ever have. Ol' Mac is the most coon hatinest thing that ever breathed air. We shoot em out and he kills em and crunches everybone in their body. We put em in a burlap bag and continue to take the masks off dem coonz
