Like bluegill heads & dip baits (Hoss's Hawg Bait / G&S) for channels. Don't fish for flathead around here that often to have a specific bait. Notice those that do use green sunfish they get at the junction pond.

I got a variety.... chubs, suckers, shad & gills. Usually alive but if that doesn't seem to be working i then start cutting them up.

Cut bait - either 'gills or perch

heads seem to catch the most fish for us.

Channels: Fresh unfrozen chicken liver followed by shad, herring, or bream fillets.
Blues: 1) Fresh salt-water herring cut bait
    2) Fresh shad guts or cut shad
    3) Fresh bream cutbait (head first then middle section). If they are
small - smash them by stepping on them and fish them whole
Flatheads: Haven't caught one yet, but live bream or bullheads seam to be the best bet.

    Green sunfish live.

Works great for channels, flats, blues, black bass, and just about any other decent size predator.

Second is shad. I prefer 3" to 4" live, but will use them live up to 7 or 8" and cut them up if that won't catch anything.
