Winfield Dam has a 300 ft CAUTION line but has a 100 or 150 ft "DO NOT CROSS" line, both marked on the lock wall.

Was fishing today (briefly) before the COAST GUARD ran me off stating they enforce a 100 yds from all dams since 9/11?

The CORPS OF ENGINEERS is a FEDERAL AGENCY also so shouldn't their regulations be any good?

At least I didn't get a ticket but it sure ruined my outing.

Saverton Dam also has a 100 ft marker with a clearly visible sign and blinking red light that says boats can get no closer. If the COAST GUARD is enforcing something else shouldn't they post it?

:angry::angry: The fish are not way back where they wanted me to fish. Guess I'll have to buy a laser range finder because their estimate of 100yds seemed to me to be about 250yds!:tounge_out:

A lot of changes occured after 9/11. I believe in Oklahoma a person can no longer bank fish off a dam. I know this is the case al Lake Ft Cobb, and was told by the wardens it was state wide. Think it is over reaction, but maybe over reaction is necessary in this day and age.

You think in the age of the Patriot Act that even proving you're right is going to matter?:smile2:

Thanks Scotty. I don't know when or where, but congrats on that one. In addition, I'd like to set up a steel cage match between you and the Rat. My money is on country strong.

If it were up to me, then...........let it be so. I just wish I knew how to make it happen.

Unfortunately, this is about as likely to happen as Grumper joining Iceman and Wolverine in the next X-Men.

I don't know, Grumper has been masquerading as the midnight marauder here as of late. Word has it; he can leap buildings in a single bound and spear tackle drunk drivers like a freight train!

Actually, that part is pretty easy, http://mdc4.mdc.mo.gov/Documents/69.pdf
According to the MDC, it was caught by someone named Scott L. Brown :smile2: on April 28, 2003 at Montrose Lake.

i dont know about any of the other dams but at clarksville it is 300ft below and 600ft above. they never use to say anything about going above those lights but they got a new lockmaster and he is a d*** he had cameras installed and they have been mailing warnings and tickets in the mail. now what i was told at the lock is last year alone the corp had 7 lawsuits against them where people had gotten to close and got injuried. it just takes a few to ruin it for everybody.
