Can you tell what it is Blue or channel?
the anal fin should be the tell tale. 29 or less ribs will be a Channel. 30 or more will be a Blue.
Looks like a male channelcat to me
I'm going with load on this.
Tough call on this one! By the looks of the anal fin, it has a straight apperance. Long too! Could be a Blue Cat. Count the rays on the anal fin. 30 or more. Blue Cat-29 or less Channel Cat. Could be a male channel cat too. Like 223Reload said. The males tend to be darker, especially during the spawn. I've caught some channels that look identical to this one posted in the picture.. The head looks to be that of a channel cat too. More slender head.
Saying male Channel Cat!!
I agree, tough call. The anal fin looks like a blue. Need to count em:wink:
its a blue channel
I'd say channel, not only are the anal fins longer, they apear straighter too, that one looks roundish.....
looks like a male channel to me, catch tons of them that size every year.
male channel all the way...
someone playing with the photo shop putting the head of a sturgen on the body of a blue cat. do i win :cool2:
Could someone please deleat all but my first post on this thread :embarassed: my computer is having some major issues:embarassed: SORRY!
Same thing happened to me this morning. I'm glad I'm not the only one! lol
looks iffy...maybe it`s a hybrid?
Auburn University has crossed the blue cat and the channel cat and come up with a hybrid (blue-channel catfish) for stocking in state lakes.
It grows large like a blue cat and can tolerate lower dissolved oxygen like a channel cat.
Maybe its one of them but if I had to guess I'd say its a male channel.
I'd say male channel
Looks like a channel cat to me...and a dandy.
nice channel i'd say.
