Last week I caught my biggest channel cat I have ever caught. 18 lb 9 oz. I also caught a 14 pounder and a 10 pounder. At what size do channel cats become trophy cats?:confused2:

You should enter it in the BOC Hall of Fame.

Answer is individual to each person. But like anything in life, we put, "Gates" on about anything we can measure.

For a good basis look at the Angler Award programs for two states which offer a good representation of, "Most" states.

For the Channel Catfish, they have decided the below meet the Big Fish requirements for their State.

    Ohio 26"

    Texas 30"

I'ma say 15# is a trophy channelcat just about anywhere besides the Red River.

If you enter both of them, you will knock Bumper into third place. :smile2:

Some might consider them trophys, others just some big fish, and if you got a fish that your proud of, and you think is a trophy, well there you go its your trophy!!!!! Good luck and good fishin'

only got photos of the 14 and 10 the camera bat died and I didn't take photos of the weight, just me holding them. I can take a photo of me with a measuring tape to compare. I'm pretty sure the 14 pounder was over 30" and the 10 pounder was close!

You could enter the 14. I don't think you have to show the scale for the Hall of Fame, unless they changed the rules.

I agree, I don't think a scale picture is needed, just you and the fish

I posted my cats on the hall of fame but it hasn't posted yet. I really wish I could have got pics of the 18 pounder( next time I'm bringing more batteries) but it makes a good fish story and I have my wife to back me up. I only posted the 10 & 14( little under 14 but rounded up) lb fish ,here are the pics.
