A down rigger is a device which lowers a weighted usually lead ball down to a specific depth in the water .It has a clip to which you attach your line with lure/bait.That way your lure is working at that specific depth for which the DR is set. They are usually used when trolling for salmon, trout ,stripers etc and in saltwater.Go to Cabelas website at you can find pictures of them under fishing equipment.:smile2:

    $200 lantern holder... lol..
    * I bought a nice one a while back, used it a few times, till I relized it is better for holding the lantern close to the water for crappie fishing..
