Last night, I found myself at a local casino on my way to play Bingo with my wife and some of her friends. As I walked through the door, I began to notice several "significant others" standing while their partner played slots or black jack or a variety of other forms of gambling.

We sat down to play bingo (something I do with my wife 3-4 times per year) my wifes friends said they wished their boyfriends/husbands would come with and enjoy bingo also. I gritted my teeth as I realized how much I didn't like going to bingo. I do however, enjoy spending time with my wife doing the things she enjoys doing.

I immediately came to realize all the things my wife does to allow me to do the things I enjoy and all the things she does with me that I know she doesn't particularly enjoy. I think about all the times she watches the kids so that I can go out late night fishing. All the times she comes with bowling, knowing that I truly love it. All the times she comes out to "help" me in my shop, just to spend time with me while I make some woodworking project for someone else.

So, my question is this. What are the things that you do to spend time with your significant other just to spend time with them when it is something you don't enjoy doing?

Ol Man, you got that all WRONG. babysittin grandkids should be at the top of your DO list. Think of all the things you can teach them to do that will annoy the daylights outta their parents! Think of all the fishing knowledge you can impart to them.

We have a place on the river about 50 miles north of our home, George spends a lot of time there so therefore so do I, but he enjoys it so I do it

I detest shopping, but I will go when she really wants me too. As men in general I don't think we actually acknowledge what our other half does for us, i.e, cooking, bathing, dressing the kids, running the household, putting up with our crap and much more. Now and then I too have to stop and reflect what she does for me and the kids. So I guess in the overall scheme of things it doesn't really hurt me to spend a couple of hours shopping. (I'm sure it does but I keep telling myself I will be alright). Thanks for sharing this thread with us.
