The wooden wedge thing that backs up the eyebolt(for the winch rope) on a V bow?

More importantly, what would make a suitable non-wood replacement?

I'm thinking something like a hard rubber wedge, but can't think of where I would find one. Is such a thing used for another purpose? Something like 3" x 3"?

Just talking a 12 footer here, doesn't need to be gorilla strong.

not sure what the name actually is, but made one a few years back for a buddy's boat out of a piece of aluminum angle, just cut a chunk off about 4-5" long and drill the two holes in it.

I dont know what it's called, but how about some UHMV or UHMW plastic as a replacement piece. Its tuff and machinable, wont ever rot. I happen to have some, depending on your size requirments I might be able to help you out. Shoot me a line, if I 've got what ya need, I'll mail you some.
