What Baitfish is best for the Ohio River

    I fish all rivers with live creek chubs and blue gill but im wondering if there is a better bait that can be cought locally. Help me out

    I havent been able to do much fishing lately but Id have to say skipjack.

    skipjack, shad, bullheads. but you cant go wrong with the bluegill. Also, cut carp has worked great for me, them things seem to never stop bleeding.

    all of these choices sound good. My favorite baits are (in order): Skipjack, shad, bluegill, nightcrawlers, other bait fish

    It sounds like skipjack is populer but blue gill is very easy to catch is skipjack as easy.

    I use anything that is lively... bluegill, greensunfish, bass, carp, etc. rollo

    River, live Bullheads and Channels can better withstand the High Temps and LOW oxygen that u will see in the Big River right now over Gills etc., etc. (Google it) So with less stress they are more lively and last in the rivers water better.

    As far as Cut Bait.... Shad is my #1 UNLESS there are tons of Skips in the area u r fishin...then Skipjack.

    OPINION n from what I've seen on the Big River in NE Ohio.
