I know a lot of people keep what bait they are using to themselves but, come on, unless these lakes/rivers/ponds are running low on catfish lets see what ya got.

I will get some of the cheapest steak I can find usually flat "breakfast" steak, then get some Premo catfish bait from the local Wally World. Cut them into about 1 inch strips. Get a pickle jar & put about 10 to 12 strips in there, unless you can fit more, then fill it up with that Premo. I usually add a little water to soften it up & help it soak in to the meat. (add a can of tuna for some extra "flavor")Let that sit out on your back deck for about a week or two. WORKS WONDERS!!! Stay on your hook great too. If I reel in the bait & leave, I just stick it back in the jar to use again. You can get away with that about 4 or 5 times before it won't stay on your hook.

I use anything legally caught at the lake I am fishing I will use it dead or alive sometimes I will use live on one pole an cut on the others.

If I can't catch it at the lake/river I am fishing then I will not use it period. I do not use store bought baits except maybe shrimp.

Also Markas welcome to the USCA/BOC. Glad to have more Kansas members.

Fresh Shad...end of discussion. If I can't get any shad, I'll use worms or bluegill.

I don't bother with any store bought junk any more.

I did manage to catch my first Goldeneye this weekend and it worked pretty good, no better than good old shad though.
