Last few weeks I've been using Catdogs with much success. Cut up hotdogs into bite size pieces put into enclosed container such as a coffee can or butter tub, and mix garlic powder, grated parmesian cheese, vanilla extract and shake up real good. Works like a charm.

I would say fat shiners that I catch. I might try creek chubs soon, but my favorite place to get huge chubs dried up this summer.:sad2:

My favorite bait is raw, boneless chicken breast. Cut bait is alright but the chicken bait works wonders, its better than anything I've ever used.

This year I've had the best luck with precooked shrimp. The 61-100 size packs from the local store. We also used hotdogs, skipjack, liver & crawfish.

In our area, it is not legal to use live baits for anything. So, I typically use whole or cut up chubs, shiners, livers, raw shrimp, carp, white bass, raw bacon or a variety of man made items (cheese dogs, stink baits, dough baits, vienna sauges, lunch meat, etc.).

The main thing for me is to bring a good selection and let the fish tell me what will work best.

Fresh water clams, big ones. You can dig them up in almost any river and some lakes

Fresh caught shad is super for blues and channels, I even catch flatheads on it. when I target flatheads I use live bait, Green ear sunfish, goggle eye perch, mud cats are the best for me!
