I know lots of folks have done quite well using hot dogs, but I've never been able to catch a cat on one.
Also heard of using Ivroy soap.Hot dogs will work but, Mel would probably eat them first :wink:and then no bait.:smile2:
A friend of mine uses nightcrawlers with a marshmallow for channels. Thats it. He wont change baits no matter what.
Me catchin' a catfish is strange--no matter what the bait is.
hotdogs, 4week old liver, 2 month old liver( really black and green and smelled nasty), and a stick of butter. I ve caught at least one cat on each

my buddy and i found a possum ran over in the park we were camping in. there were little 2 inch baby possums laying everywhere (8 or 10) they had been her pouch. my buddy said no use in letting these things go to waste. so we took them and put them on our jugs. caught some blues on them but i assure you it wouldn't ever be a bait of choice. just seemed to be the thing to do at the time.
I don't think anybody will top that!
I heard of a guy near keysport who has used baby kittens .
My grandpa used to use plug tobacco when he ran out of bait. He swore it worked... but I have yet to try.
sand toads work great and stay on the hook with multible catches on one if you have them in your area ty them
A chunk of stick pepperoni. We were cutting it and eating while we fished. I though what the heck and speared it down the shaft of a treble hook, tied a knot, threw it out, and had a 4-6 pound channel. Now, we didn't catch anything else that night so who knows if it was just the right place at the right time. Never tried it since.
