yestarday we fished local lake (badin) and we caught about 6-7 blues nothing huge anywhere from 3-10 lbs and they were pulling water rediculously bad for past week, every fish we caught had some kind of cut or sore on them is it possible this is from the water being so swift it is hardly ever like this it is normally calm enough to go right up against the dam but you couldnt get 300 yards from it it was so swift just wondering i thought it was ironic. any info would be appreciated.

Seen em get beat up like that below dams. They get caught in currents and bashed around when they open gates and everything changes. The water surges also move em around .

Some of it could be from spawning activity also. From each other, from spawning in and around rocks, and from protecting the nest. Even cats in lakes with no current seem to look pretty rough if you catch 'em during spawning season.

I agree with Bumper based on time of year.
