does anyone put a egg sinker on there leader (carolina rig style) instead of their main line

the weight goes to the hook

I don't do that because I want to be sure of how much line there is between the hook and the weight.

That would defeat one of the purposes of using leaders in the first place. You want your bait rolling free with the wave action and the sinker sliding all the way down to the hook would have it pinned against the bottom of the lake.

I don't see the purpose of it....IMO, I like the egg sinker/no roll above the swivel on my main line....DemoMan
