In Indiana's fishing regs, size limits are in inches. Ditto the cutoffs in the "Indiana fish consumption advisory report". However, people usually describe their fish sizes in terms of weight, ditto records and so forth.

Is there anyplace where one can find (approximately--I figure there's quite a bit of variation, just like with people) how much a given species of fish of a given length can be expected to weigh, or vice versa, how long a given species of given weight will likely be.

Example: Channel cats taken in streams must be at least 10" long to keep. Per the consumption advisory in most streams 16 inches or so is the "cutoff" between a class 2 (eating weekly OK) to class 3 or higher (monthly to "do not eat"). What would cats in that size range weigh?
