Caught several good flats over the weekend. The ones in the pics weighed 28lb and 37lb. We caught several other flats that weighed in between 15lb and 25lb. Caught em all on carp heads.

That first picture was pretty cool - very artistic!

    Congratulations on a good weekend.

I fished Saturday, but found it to be pretty slow, myself.

I've been catching all my fish from the bank on rod and reel. I caught the flats at Hartwell. I've been getting on a pretty good bite on blues at Lanier. Since Lanier is down, I've been able to get to the better drop offs and flats. Been getting the blues fishing on the edge of the drop offs between 2pm and 8pm. Haven't done very good once it gets dark. Bite seems to shut down. As stated earlier, I caught the flats using carp heads. At Lanier, I'm using cut bluebacks. I've been getting the bigger blues on the heads and the smaller 2-10lb fish on the bodies. Biggest blue this year from Lanier went 32lbs. I've had two that I couldn't turn. That 30lb flat is my biggest this year. My partner caught one a couple of weeks ago that went 51lb. Naturally, I had to work that weekend.

    Tight lines to all.

Nice catch. I had no idea that there were blues in Lanier. How deep have you been getting the blues?

I've been getting them between 20ft-40ft on flats that drop off into deep water - 70ft-90ft. In the past, blues, at least for me, on Lanier have been a little scarce. I would generally pick up a few smaller ones 2-5lbs. Must have something to do with the lake being down because this year has been pretty good on the blues. A couple of weeks ago I was fishing cut bluebacks in 30ft and caught two stripers. One was 8lbs and the other 5lbs. I'm sure it has to do with the bait moving. We've been known to sit for hours without getting bumped then there would be a flurry of hits then nothing. They gotta be following the bait.

I caught my biggest flathead at this exact time of year last year on a carp head...

Maybe a connection with this time of year and the fish's forage?
I know what I will be useing for bait this weekend!!

Nice fish by the way, those are nice!

SUPER fish Bill. Ya' know Josh---if you were to lay a fishing rod on that S-10, it would probably make it a legitimate catfishin' pic. Just a thought.
