I am not a trapper. I ran rabbit boxes as a kid and fished and hunted all
my life, I just never got into trapping. I enjoy reading all the trapping
posts. I have noticed no one ever catches weasels. Is a weasel not a
good furbearer. I remember killing a weasel in the chicken coop as a child
and I remember it being the size of a mink. Just wondering.

I think they are more of a northern critter when considered a fur bearer.
There are a very few guys that catch them in northern Iowa but I know of nobody that catches then here in southern Iowa.
If they are even here I have never seen one.
I belong to an Iowa trapping site and there was a lot of excitement when one of the guys posted pictures of a couple of weasels he caught this last season. The guys wanted to know all the hows and wheres about it.
    Have a good 1

Most of the weasels that are trapped are the ones that turn white in the winter (ermine) I believe only the northern most states have that occurr. Most weasels are about 1/4 the size of the normal mink. Regular weasels are worth much and so small they are sometiimes difficult to handle ... so they are really worth the effort. I have accidentally caught 3 in my entire life of trapping and that started in 1947. ..... Garry-
