this will be my last boat trip this year. my left knee has given out on me. i am scheduled for a total replacement in two weeks.
my son has asked me to go to guntersville ba$$ fishing next week. i love guntersville but may sneak in a cat rod. when i was a kid i use to catch ba$$ by the boat load at guntersville. may just show him how. lol

Frank, I'm jealous, I'd love to fish Guntersville. I saw the guy's on bassmasters weighing in 25-30lb stringers. Hope your knee replacement surgery goes well and you'll be back on the Bar next spring. Take care and let us know how it goes.

The ramp I use on WattsBar is a few miles from the interstate, off exit 72 going away from town. I always fish down river from the ramp along bluff walls. It's a good way from where I live but I usually always catch some big blues there. You should definatly give it a shot.

Hey Daniel,

Have you done any good this year down there in the area where we fished with Tom? I havent been able to fish as much this summer as I did last summer but the times I have went I havent caught anything over 20lbs. I dont know what the deal is. Im doing the same thing this year as I did last year.

well we made it back from goose pond. had a great trip loved fishing the grass. the fish didn't co-operate much. in two days of fishing we caught 8 small ba$$. found out why i don't ba$$ fish. i just can't stand moveing from place to place at 70 mph. his boat about beat me to death and he has forgot everything i ever taught him about respect for other fishermen. it was 70 mph right through them.
the first morning we kept seeing fish laying on top of the grass and as we got close they would slide out of sight never did figure out what they were the first day but saw hundr4eds of them. on the second morning i watched one slide up on top of the grass it was a 2#blue. i believe that is what most of them were.
i spent today at the hospital pre op stuff so no more boating this year but i may go to scotsboro for a few days next spring. got my liscense anyway.

Hey Justin, good to hear from you. Iv'e only been able to fish WattsBar a few times this year and that was spring and early summer. The gas prices have put a stop to my catfishing, just been bass fishing the local river with an occasional trip down to Chickamauga lake.

I caught a few big blues in Tom's "spots", but didn't get into them like I wanted. I think the biggest cats Iv'e caught up there this year are a 40 and a 42lber with a couple just over thirty. Nothing like last year thats for sure.
I'm hoping to fish that area a lot this fall and winter.

I never did get around to going striper fishing this year. Oh well, maybe next year.

sorry i didn't see your post about douglas. a guy my son works with has been fishing the river so far up douglas you have to be carful of the bottom. he is catching hundreds of channels. the cold has stopped me. i can't stand the wind if it is below 70. there are some holes just below kingston i want to try before winter.

i went out yesterday afternoon with the intention of puting my jugs out. when i got to the ramp an older man had put his boat in without the plug in. he had managed to pull it up to shore but it was flat on bottom. he was so nervous he couldnt do anything. i backed his trailor to the boat and hooked the wench to it. we worked over two hours getting the boat onto the trailor enough to drain. we couldn't find his plug so i gave him an extra i had and he went on out. i was so exhausted i just came back home.
