I used to trout fish below a dam in New Mexico and you needed to wear warm pants in your waders or insulated waders because the water released would be fairly cold even on days of 90 - 100*. The released water came from below the thermocline. In May/June, wouldn't the deep water below the dam be fairly cold? Small fish and predators might be feeding up higher than later in the summer. What do you think? We were catching our few fish at 12' last weekend even though we had bait on or near the bottom. Also, my lowrance 2000 (older) kept showing a line on the screen at 12'. The line would come and go or move a bit, but a thin dark line was shown most of the time. Any ideas about the temp or sonar readings?
