received this in an e-mail today, pretty intiresting! i developed a kidney infection about 2 months ago and decided to stop drinking pop anyways, just water and juices now for me. ...

This is really an eye opener... Water or Coke? We all know that water is
important but I've never seen it written down like this before.

    1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.

    2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often
    mistaken for hunger.

    3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.

    4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100%
of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.

    5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

    6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could
significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

    7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory,
trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or
    on a printed page.

    8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by
45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50%
less likely to develop bladder cancer.

And now for the properties of COKE:

    1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of
coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

    2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two

    3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola in! to the toilet bowl and
let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in
Coke removes stains from vitreous China.

    4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a
rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

    5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola
over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

    6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the
    rusted bolt for several minutes.

    7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap
the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is
finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for
    a sumptuous brown gravy.

    8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy
clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will
    help loosen grease stains.

    9. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

    For Your Info:

    1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will
dissolve a nail in about 4days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from
bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.

    2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use
the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials.

    3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of
their trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a coke or a glass of water? Have A
Great Day and Share It With Others

    Just some info:
Citric acid is in orange juice, and sometimes high quantities.
The human stomach has a ph level between 1 and 2 usually nearer to one.I agree that it is not healthy, thats why I drink rootbeer:rolleyes: lol. I drink tons of coke but I have found that many products have the same dangers. I drink water during the wrestling season and cut out cokes, it cuts back on my weight but as for other things, I hardly notice. I blame political science and my roomate for my sleepiness.

I remember that quite a few years ago, I knew someone who sold medical testing equipment and showed medical personnel how to use it. Some of this equipment was used to test a number of things that showed overall 'wellness' of nursing home patients. While he didn't find it unusual that some tested high on 'wellness', and others tested low, he also found that almost all of the patients testing high consumed large amounts of water; almost all patients testing very low consumed low amounts of water. He also found that of patients in their late 80s and 90s, a much larger percentage of them consumed large amounts of water as compared to the overall national average consumption.

I just had a thought. (dangerous, everyone take cover) Most of us know about some, if not all, of those 'properties of coke' listed above. Has anyone tried running these same tests on plain carbonated water? Just curious as to whether the problem is due to the cola syrup or the carbonated water.

And one more thing: Coca Cola's profit margin is 30%.

Coke makes me thirsty. I think my body is telling me something.

In the early days of this soda many people became addicted to it because of the coca ingredient.

Don't forget about Pepsi (much nastier)

Soda will destroy you kidneys if you drink nothing else.

Do these people who make this crap care about you, I don't think so...

A lot of this stuff is true, however it's not just coke ANY carbonated soda; Coke, Pepsi, Mt. Dew, pick your poison. :) I imagine beer will do the same.
This message brought to you by a Coca Cola employee with frequent bladder infections. LOL

My wife drinks coke like it's going out of style, and she has had bladder problems. As for me, I drink iced tea and water and I have never had bladder problems. (knock on wood) Thank GOD.

:) One caution before you go out and guzzle 5 gallons of water to stop your joints from aching etc etc.As in all things you CAN over do it.We lost a Marine a while back during the summer because he was consuming the required rate for high activity in extremely hot weather.High water consumption can cause you to go into shock and die because it depletes the bodies supplies of salt and electrolytes.Which is what happened. For most Americans that consume to much salt with their daily intake of food this isn't much of a problem but it can happen.Last year when I went on my weekly ski trip to Colo,I was drinking lots of water as usual at high altitude,as is recommended yet at night I was having problems with cramps in my legs.An EM tech told me to use Gatorade or any of the electrolyte drinks or add a little salt to my diet as I hardly use it.I switched and in one day no problem. There is no doubt however that most of us don't get enough water.8 glasses a day and you wont believe how much better you will feel.Of course you will also "Go" more but that of itself is a cleansing process. If you drink Ice water you can lose 10lbs a year simply because your body burns more calories "Heating" the water back up to body temp. ;) :)

I've always loved Coke... really got better about 20 years ago when they started using Aspartame and made it calorie free! I can drink 2 liter bottle a day in the summer time.
Now don't tell me that Aspartame is poison, I've already read that junk. :p

If it doesn't have alcohol in it, It's water for me. All day every day. Another interesting fact: equal parts Coke and ketchup makes great BBQ sauce!
