Martha and I went up on the Wakarusa today (10-04-09) to the West End of the Refuge area. The wind was blowing and the shad were not schooled up much. Took awhile to catch a couple dozen shad. Martha caught a wiper along the bank. We began fishing in the middle of the river on the bottom with 3" shad. About 4 p.m. He nailed it. Had to turn Him 3 times before he finally wore down enough to come into the landing net. It was wide-open water, no stumps, no log jams. We were in the middle of the river w/boat and lines in the middle on a horseshoe bend. The water was about 15 to 20 deep. The Channel and Bass were CPR (Told Martha it had to be 18"). Met Sand Rat at the Boat Ramp. The P.B. Channel was 31", 12 lb..
