I have narrowed down my engine problem to my VRO pump. The pump costs about $400. I have talked to boat shops and they have told me that I can premix my oil until I can afford to buy a new pump. I was told that they have rebuild kits for older model pumps but not for the newer models.
What must be done in order to use premixed fuel and what mixture ratio (oil/fuel) should I mix it?
    Thanks for all help.

Plug the line from the oil tank to the VRO pump and disconnect the low oil sensor wires to the oil tank and mix you oil and fuel at 50:1

It is just this easy. I have a 40HP that I went through the same kind of deal. I mix 50:1, unhooked the oil line at the cowl and plugged it with a vacume nipple cap from Napa and unplugged the wires. No problems since..
