I am considering getting some older reels for a hobby/possible investment. Where would be the best place to get information on older reels?
    Thanks for any advice.

there is a great abu garcia collectable site........im not sure about the address, it was a bunch of slash slash colon colon stuff.........but i was just trying to see the garcia 1000..........so i went to yahoo and searched abugarcia 1000............i think number 2 or 3 is the one u want, it will say abu garcia collectables.............there were all kinds of reels from way back.......it was really cool to see those old baitcasters, im sure with a lil lube and some fresh line they would cast as good as when they were new.

Yard Sales, yard sales, yard sales!!!!!

A friend of mine has gotten $500 worth of antique lures, rods, and a reel for $30 in the last year. Now, if I can only get him to take me with......

Just do a web search on 'fishing reels' + (antique or collectable) and you'll find a number of sites that will give you plenty of info.
