The payara have canine teeth these teeth will pierce all the way through your hand. They have the body of an elongated permit and the tail of a salmon. These anatomical characteristics not only allow it to be quite comfortable residing in and around rapidly moving water, but also make it quite a powerful adversary on the end of ones line. These fish leap like a tarpon, their silvery iridescent bodies providing a beautiful site as they contort some four feet out of the water, and make runs comparable to any saltwater light tackle gamefish in the amazon river.

I was at a sporting goods store in Joplin, Missouri yesterday...and there was a Payara mounted on the wall there. The owner of the store had went to South America and caught one. He also had a HUGE Peacock bass mounted as well. Now THAT is something I'd love to try. The only bad thing is that you have to go to SA to get one. Although it seems like I did hear that down in Florida there are pay lakes that are stocked with Peacock bass. I need to find out for sure...and if it's true...I need to persuade my wife that it's time to take a vacation down to Disney World! I can see it now...honey...here's $1000 to spending money for you. Mind if while you meet Cinderella and Mickey Mouse...I go fishing for awhile? I won't be gone long. LOL ;)

Along with wading, swimming, jet skiing, and water skiing. It's amazing how quick people will get out of the water when they start losing various parts of their anatomy.....Lol.
