Clayton angler reels in record cat
now i have somthing to try and beat :hell_boy:
Wow, another BOC member with a state record! Thanks for sharing the article.
That is awesome! I always said they should have set the bar at 15 pounds instead of reducing it to 10 pounds.
Too bad they did not have the correct website address.
That member would be Bigblaze.
Congrats Bigblaze! Another member, Another Record! Lovin It!
Would have been cool if they put catfish1.com on there might have drawn a crowd!
Thanks everybody for the congrats....
I know it's not huge and i don't know if it will last thru this weekend. There is a big catfish tourney. going on down east and allot of good anglers will be looking to try to catch the next record.
I also know allot of NC anglers have already caught bigger channel cats than mine...I think jaync caught one that was 19 3/4 lbs and I think Greggofish caught one that topped the 20 mark....soupman has also caught a giant channel before...I guess i just caught mine at the right time.
Unfortunately when you do an article you are at the mercy of the editor doing the story.
I want to make sure the proper people get the proper credit thats i feel is due:
Greg (greggofish) and David Griffin. I would have never caught half the fish I caught this year (let alone the state record) without them.
I baited the hook, threw out the bait and reeled it in...thats it.
Greg and David decided to go down river about 8 miles in search of the striper bite.
David netted the fish and Greg had the state record application form in his boat.
Greg also spent quality fishing time and gas looking for a certified scale to weigh the fish.
So it was not just me it was a group effort.
I also need to thank my wife, Ellen for putting up with my fishing addiction. i would fish every day if i didn't have a wife, kids and a JOB!
I did not quote the website address.
I said "I met Greg on the brotherhood of catfishermen/catfish 1 web site."
I also said that "if not for the BOC I would have never caught the fish because i would have probably never met Greg."
I said "I definitely wanted to thank the founders of the BOC/catfish 1."
The editor printed what he felt was necessary.
Congrats! that's great to hear.
congrats on your big fish.
Congrats on the new record, not all of us can say we held a state record no matter how long it stands it is something to be proud off :cool2:
Congrats again John.
I was bustin to post that,but, didn't.
Good luck on toppin that one.
Great story! Many times it is just chance you actually catches the fish out of a group of folks fishing. It will be an experience that will be with you a lifetime and you are lucky to have some friends to share it with.
I don't care how long it lasts, you can always say you had the record!! If I had caught an eleven pounder last month you can bet I would have had it certified!!
John, even though I've known about the fish since the day you caught it, now that it's official...congrats. I thought it was 20lbs and over, but when did they change it? I caught one 15lbs 8oz, but I guess it was like 2 summers ago.
I'm glad you could find a scale and stuff, sorry I couldn't help you with that when you called.
Awesome man, congrats on the catch. Thanks for spreading the word of the BOC.
here you go Zakk...(post courtesy of greggofish.)
Ah ok, it hasn't been changed for very long.
I just love how people not fishing for catfish seem to pull in the nice one. Congrats on the record although I am jealous
