using shad

    Hey I was fishing a local pond today and a guy come up and said i thought all fisherman knew better than to use shad in a pond any idea what that was all about all i know is a caught 3 and he didn't catch any just curious what his shad deal was

    perhaps the concern was if the shad was alive they may take over the pond and deplete rescources needed by the native fish. If it was cut bait, I can see no problem whatsoever. I have an ornamental pond in my yard which is about 26' X 20' X 6'. Put shad in there and the darn things spawned. Had more shad than you could shake a stick at. They all went fishing for flatheads though. lOL

    no they where dead been dead for about 24hrs used them sat at the river and sunday at the pond they only lived about 2 hrs after netted
