Does anyone know how to put hard pellets on a hook? I tried grinding some up and made different dough baits. I'm thinking the most natural flavor is going to work best since all they have ate are pellets I'd assume. Maybe pantyhose with pellets inside?
I've tried putting soured wheat chum on a dry fly hook. Never caught anything, yet when I throw out chum and catch'em with cheese bait they're full of the stuff. I've never been able to figure it.
Crazy idea but the only way I can see is to drill them with a tiny bit and use a hair rig.
I've caught pond fish before by throwing them some feed and then making a dough ball of some moistened feed and throwing it out under a shallow bobber right where they are feeding.
Randy is right about fishing shallow just under the feed .My dealing with pond fish is catch one or two and the rest take flight even if the food is still there.
The pellets are way to small to drill a hole in them. That would be nice, I'd like to make a batch of just pellets and water but idk if it would stick or anything. We made some baits with veg oil, flour yeast, corn meal etc
I take fish food and just enough water to melt them it takes a while then I add a little flour to it and mix it all up and make dough balls works good. The secret to catching farm raise fish is not to feed them for couple of day before you go.
I have used dry dog food before to catch pond fed catfish. Can't remember which brand of dog food I used but is was the kind that had a hole in it, might have been puppy chow but not sure.
Get a treble hook in a size where you can wedge 2 pellets into the bend between the hook point and the shank leaving 1 of the points exposed. Works well if you find the right size.
