Using Catfish for catfish bait....

    I've got about a 10lb pack of catfish I forgot about in my fridge outside... I know shame on me.. But has anyone used catfish for bait?

    I have never done that and i dont think i would ever do that. I dont know if it would work or not. I would have to think it would'nt work but i could be wrong. But good luck to you either way.:big_smile:

    I know... if I had a cat I would feed it to him. Probably make him sick. But I'll probably freeze it again and put it in my crawfish trap. Or maybe grind it up and make some sort of dip and serve it for a cookout. HA!:wink:

    On Lake Norman, several of us started using fresh catfish filets (skin on) last year while drifting. Some nice blues have been caught on these filets.

    Yes, they will work for bait. You will be better off with a fillet that has the skin still on it.
