has anyone used any of the us reels spinning reels. they have a really wide spool for less twist and farther casting. i was looking at the 240x for river smallmouth fishing, but 100+ bucks is alot for a spinning reel without talking to someone who has actually used one. i also think either cabelas or bass pro makes a similiar design.

chip i have talked to people that have used them and they like them. but in my opinion too much money to get a little extra distance and a little less line twist.

There are two companies that really get under my skin: US Reel and American Rodsmith...both made in China.

American, my ass! I'll go without, before they get my $.

Bass Pro Shops offers a very similar reel in their Extreme series that's $40 on their website right now. I've checked them out at the store in Cincy, other than the colors and graphics, I can't see any major difference between them and the US Reels.
