So its been a while but though id give a update as far as my catfishing on the james... Been out a few times earlier this year near the lynchburg area ive managed to pick up 2 decent channels yet almost a citation smallmouth caught off a live rock bass goin after flathead(go figures lol) Had one decent hit on live bait early one morning. Has anyone had anyluck round the area as far as flatheads or have they started spawning ? Any help and advice would be helpful?

Ps. Pics of catch coming soon!!!

I fished alot for flatheads in the Lynchburg/Big Island/Monacan Park area and had best results from June-Sept. .....Although many have disagreed with me on this site before but I NEVER had any luck fishing for flatheads during daylight hours! Sure you will catch one every now and then in daylight....I caught a 14lb flathead on the upper james on a nightcrawler before in daylight, but when we were consistantly catching big fish it was always at night. Usually from dark - 2am (they may have been biting longer, thats usually what time we stopped fishing)

I'd say 90% of the flatheads we catch are in the daytime before spawn, too hot for me in the summer in the daylight.
