When drifting a river....which I've never done..do you troll up stream or down stream? I've heard both are good, but how? Thanks in advance!

I would say downstream because that is the way the scent of the bait is traveling and the way dead baits move with the current.

I have seen others control drift with there trolling motors in the missouri river, above wing dicks on the flats.

You can use your trolling motor to hold you back some in the current. This will keep your bait in the fishes zone a little longer.

Use enough weight to keep your line straight up & down.Slower the better.Put 1 rod just barley bumping the bottom and set another 2-3 foot off the bottom.Experiment with different depths.
