I have to say i totally agree with Wolfman.. i have one Abu 7000 Big game one a ugly stick tiger 7ft m/h with 100lb test power pro... and i got it hung up on a tree that was in the river... i ended up pulling the tree in.. tree was 10inches wide and about 15 ft long... and it cranked it in fine... it ruined my hook.. but i didnt loose my whole rig...id have to say the tree was well over 300lbs... i was susprised the hook didnt straighten... gotta love those gama bait hooks... they are extremely thick and tough...

i always try combos made for catfish, try the uglystick "ugly cat" is really good and so is the cabela brand king kat, but if ur after something other than a spinning set up go with a abu 700 big game reel, and a good muskie rod

I think it would be an ABU 7000c3 w/27lb Mason braided Dacron line, mounted on a Gator 7ft rod set up for 25 to 45 lb. line wieght, w/10 inch handle. As I just sold my two 7000's, guess it will be on my Wal-mart, uglies and 6000 reels.

I've been a Garcia guy for years but I decided to try a Shimano TR200G on an Ugly Stick cat rod. Haven't had a chance to use it yet but I like the way it looks:cool2: . Hopefully an update soon!!
