Ugly Sticks are tough as far as the rods go. I've had problems with the inserts coming out of the tip guide, but good old Wally World took it back and gave me anoher. But, as far as feel and action, I've fished with better.

Miicheal, they are both. Some are 2 piece and some are 1 piece, my favorite poles are 1 piece by far. The "Ugly Cat" is by far the best rod I have ever used and it is 7' and one piece.

The ugly cat white cafish rod in 7ft medium heavy action is the best all around rod I have ever used, good for channel cats, and the bigger flatheads and blues..If I was fishing extremly heavy cover where you have to turn a fish quick it may be a little on the lite side, but then you can just step up to the ugly stik tiger rod...If I had only rod to fish with for the rest of my life, it would be the ugly stik catfish rod.

I would suggest the ugly stick tiger for the best rod I've ever used

I totally agree there, the Ugly Stik Tiger rod is definitely a great rod. But it cost about double what the "Ugly Cat" rod cost. I like my Ugly Cat rod best of all, but the Tiger is awesome too, I like the guides on it.

The reel matters a lot more then the rod, if the reel can hold enough good size line and has enough durability, you should be fine.
