I've been thinking about buying a turtle trap.
I've never used one before. I've seen them on line. They are square cages with an opening on
top. Have any of you guys ever used these traps
before? Do they seem to work well? Will they
hold large turtles? Thanks for any advice you
    might have.

I wouldn't know about turtle traps, but they don't sound like a bad idea. Little Eagle Creek runs behind my house, and I fish there pretty much daily, but this year the turtle population has just gotten to be ridiculous. I've always loved turtles, but I don't know what to do with them. I'd hate to have to start killing them just for the hell of it.

I like these type. You can stretch them out between 2 stumps or use PVC spacers. They are easy to collapse and store/carry.

I think you could try klling them full time
and never make a dent in the population.
By the way, I'm the one who introduced myself
to you at Westside Bait and Tackle about a
month ago. Recognized you from your avitar
    picture.

Is it the trap where the turtles fall in while they are sunning themselves and cant get back out? Or is it one that has a throat, you bait it, and you tie it between two post? I tried to build the trap that they sun themselves on but it never worked right. I never used the other one but have a video on turtle catching and they used the kind you tie between 2 post. They seemed to have really good luck with those type.
