Since I have bought my Carolina Skiff, I plan to take it out up the Tugaloo River since I am closest to it. I have been fishing Santee for the past ten years and know the place well. I know that there are huge cats in Hartwell, but so many fish for them compared to the big three-stripers, bass and hybrids...crappie are a close fourth. Any tips on where to catch cats in the Tugaloo are appreciated...I land at Lake Hartwell State Park. I have had success in fishing for crappie in Gum Log, Estanolle, and Choestoa, so I believe I may try there first.

Took a good fella out today on the Skiff. We got into some cats and hybrids up the Tugaloo...Caught his very first fish today and he's 27. I love hooking cats, but I love watching people become hooked even more! Fishing is a priviledge, not a right...A blessing from the Almighty God.

Very good feeling to get someone new into fishing. What size were the cats? Also did you get any pictures?

I took the pics on his camera for him. The cat was 4-5lbs and the Hybrid was 1lb. Small fish, but the ear-to-ear grin was worth seeing. I know there are big cats in Hartwell, and soon I will find them. When I am consistently able to catch big cats, I plan on introducing as many newcomers to the sport of fishing possible.
