A huge problem is i have a boat but needs repairing so tht makes it harder to find them and most of the areas along the river are full of long grass, poison oak/ivy, and thorns all over the dang place. I'll still go threw that crap to find spots that look well but most of the time i don't have success and its irriatating after words goin home with nuthin with scratches from thorns up and down my arms and legs and possibly poison ivy/oak:laugh1:.

My point here is what am I doing wrong? I use live perch most of the time and sometimes live river minnows or shad but nothing ever seems to be around. The river I fish at night is the San Gabriel river here down in central texas and I fish on the river where it meets Granger lake. Granger Lake is perfect for them , murky most of the time if not stained but the water is never clear. The lake also is in high desinty for blues, channels and flatheads but what am I doing wrong?

somedays flatties bite well, but for the greatest percentage of the time they are loners and especialy as they grow big, so lots of patience and waiting is required when flatheading, they are worth the wait, but lots of folks chase channels and blues because they don't have the patience for flatheads, nothing wrong with that either, just different expectations when you go fishing! You should be night fishing down there by now and the spawn should be over or pretty much so, they will be cruising and hungry,be waiting for them and they will find your bait.
