Well, Im gonna try for some flatties for the first time tonight. One of the lakes I fish often should have some in there. I heard from a few guys in passing that there were flatties in the lake so I called the guy who handles the fishery dept. with the dnr in my county and he said they havent stock the lake with flatheads since the early 90's. I figured there has to be some in there still so I called a guy I know and he said he caught a #4 last year. Im gonna give it a shot tonight with some live gills. Hope to have some new pics tommorrow morning. :0a32:

well, if they stocked flatties 17 years ago and someone recently caught a 4 pounder, i'd say they are in there and doing well.
    good luck on your trip!

Joe, for a first timer you should start out in a river. If one pours into your lake I'd start looking there. Fish around or as near as you can to any type of wood like big logs or jams near the bank or in bend holes. Flatheads are few and far between in the lakes around here unless you put in alot of time on the lake to figure them out. They are just easier to locate on the river.
